Homeschoolers have created networks of support to provide a way to make friends, get ideas and information, and to offer positive socialization opportunties to their children. You can join in! There are many groups to choose from, many with specific affiliations, like Christian groups or unschoolers' groups. Some are eclectic, inclusive, and open to anyone. Umbrella/Cover Schools
An umbrella or cover school provides an alternative way for parents to fulfill governmental educational guidelines and requirements. Most offer a variety of services, which can include curricula, social activities, field trips, standardized testing, portfolio reviews, evaluations, and graduation materials, including diplomas. While umbrella schools do tend to the needs of homeschoolers, they are considered a type of private school in most states.
Resource Centers
Homeschool resource centers offer classes, materials, field trips, and other activities for parents and children alike. They are great ways to get new information, engage in group activities, and network with other homeschoolers.
Public School Programs
Public schools are increasing offering programs to appeal to homeschooling families, from classes to educational materials to computer and distance learning. FACE (Family Academy of Christian Education) is a private and independent school, founded in 1996, to support and enhance the home education experience of families in Colorado and worldwide. FACE also serves as an official records-only program for Colorado home education that satisfies homeschooling law in Colorado. Lea County Homeschool Association
Lea County Homeschool Association is a group of parents and children who have come together for support and fellowship.
The purpose of their association is to provide support, encouragement, and social situations such as field day events, special field trips, etc. They also provide two, 8-week, co-op sessions per year for children of all ages in our association.
Denver Catholic Homeschoolers
Denver Catholic Homeschoolers (DCH) is a homeschooling support group for Catholic home educating families in the Denver metro area (and surrounding areas of Colorado). Our focus is on topics and discussions related to homeschooling and our Catholic faith and the promotion of educational and faith formation activities for Catholic homeschool families in our local community.
Southwest Eclectic Homeschoolers
SW Eclectic Homeschoolers invite families in the Durango, Silverton, Cortez, Mancos, and Bayfield areas of Colorado as well as the Aztec, Cedar Hill, and Farmington areas of New Mexico to post any social or educational events or information on this site. This is a loose community of homeschoolers and unschoolers who welcome all regardless of educational methods or religious beliefs.
High Country Home Educators Support Group
High Country is a support group, offering a variety of activities and events for support and fellowship for member families. Mom's groups, a monthly newsletter, family directory, legislative updates, senior graduation, and HSLDA discount are just a few of the many services included in membership. Signature events include Fall Stampede, Senior Graduation Ceremony and the Junior/Senior Formal.
Christian Association of Parent Educators - New Mexico (CAPE-NM)
CAPE-NM is the acronym for Christian Association of Parent Educators - New Mexico, dedicated to serving God by providing Biblical encouragement and information on home school law and resources to interested parents, legislators, and officials.
